New Delhi: Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday announced the release of a 32-person video calling feature called WhatsApp ‘Community’. Zuckerberg posted a video on Facebook announcing the new feature, describing it as a major development for the WhatsApp app.
He said, ‘We are starting a group on the WhatsApp app. It extends groups by enabling subgroups, multiple threads, announcement channels, and more. All protected by end-to-end encryption so your messages remain private.
Zuckerberg said the new feature will allow admins to better organize conversations ‘on one platform’. Apart from groups, the WhatsApp app unveiled more features to ‘enhance the group chat experience’ such as in-chat polls, large file sharing, replies, groups of 1024 users and shared call links.
“We launched Jiomart on the WhatsApp app in India and it’s our first end-to-end shopping experience that showcases the potential of chat-based commerce over messaging,” Zuckerberg told analysts.
