Ground water recharge has increased in seven states including Odisha

New Delhi: Ground water recharge has increased in Odisha this year. This year it reached 17.79 BCM while in 2020 it was 17.08 BCM. Compared to 2020, there has been an increase in ground water recharge in seven states including Odisha in 2022. This information has been given in a report published by the Union Ministry of Water Power. This year, the annual ground water recharge in the country is 437.6 BCM while the extraction is 239.16 BCM. During this period, the extraction of ground water in Odisha has been 16.34 BCM.

According to information, ground water recharge in the country was 436 BCM in 2020. This report has been prepared based on the data collected from 7009 units of the country. It has 314 units from Odisha. Block level units were taken up for this in Odisha. Out of 314 units in the state, 300 are in safe category, 8 are semi-critical and 6 are in saline category.
