2 chief judges of the High Court now appointed as judges of the Supreme Court

New Delhi: The central government has appointed 2 new judges in the Supreme Court. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju informed in this regard through a tweet post. He wrote in his twitter post, ‘According to the constitutional system in the country, the Hon’ble President has appointed these chief judges of the High Court as judges of the Supreme Court. My best wishes to them. The two High Court Chief Justices who have been appointed as Supreme Court judges are Rajesh Bindal of Allahabad High Court and Arvind Kumar of Gujarat High Court, the Union Minister said.

The total number of judges in the Supreme Court was 34 and 2 posts were vacant. Now, after these two newly appointed judges take oath, that post will be filled. Their names were recommended by the Supreme Court collegium last month. Five judges were appointed to the Supreme Court last week.
